30 more days ’til the Emmys!

MORE PREDICTIONS!

With 6 nominees at 3 pieces each I had to watch…um…duh…A LOT OF ROUTINES! But I had fun! And they were all great. Here are the nominees for outstanding choreography:

Mia Michaels – So You Think You Can Dance (“Every Little Thing She Does is Magic”/”When We Dance”/”This Bitter Earth-On the Nature of Daylight”)

Stacey Tookey – So You Think You Can Dance (“Mad World”/”Sundrenched World”/”Heaven is a Place on Earth”)

Travis Wall – So You Think You Can Dance (“Collide”/”How it Ends”/”Fix You”)

Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo – So You Think You Can Dance (“Scars”/”Fallin”/”Outta Your Mind”)

Mark Ballas – Dancing with the Stars (“I Write Sins Not Tragedies”/”Hedwigs Theme”/”My Love”)

Mandy Moore – So You Think You Can Dance (“Oh Yeah”/”Boogie Shoes”/”I Surrender”)

You can find ALL these routines on Youtube.

Should Win:

6. Mark Ballas – It’s so cute how he was nominated considering he’s the only one not from So You Think You Can Dance, and I like underdogs…but he’s 6th. His “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” routine was a lot of fun (screw the judges!), but his other two dances were just…OK…for me.

5. Mia Michaels – Stab a dagger in my heart! Am I saying that Mia Michaels is 5th? Yup. She has deserved to win every other year…but this year, the other choreographers rule. Her “Magic” routine was absolutely beautiful and one of the best group routines I have ever seen. “When We Dance”, however, seemed too slow and I was never a huge fan of “This Bitter Earth”. The dancers are wonderful and showcased well, but it’s not really good choreography.

4. Stacey Tookey – Three beautiful routines. Her “Mad World” routine stands out. I mean, Billy Bell is so painfully good in that, seeing him makes me want to cry. Her other two routines are purely solid. I feel like Tookey is becoming her own choreographer, and she’s no longer a “poor man’s Mia Michaels”.

3. Nappytabs – Most people revel over the Alex Wong and Twitch “Outta Your Mind” routine. Now that hip hop routine was pretty intense, and really really funny. But, in my opinion, the bread and butter is Comfort and Adechike’s “Fallin”. So beautiful. Probably their best since “No Air” and “Bleeding Love”. They definitely made a comeback with that routine. “Scars” was silly, but OK.

2. Mandy Moore – Isn’t it weird how she’s number 2? Did anyone ever think she’d get nominated for “Oh Yeah” and “Boogie Shoes”? Well, she was! And I’m glad! Two stand out, thoroughly underrated performances (the judges were double pwned with their critique of “Oh Yeah” because not only was the dance nominated but Lauren ended up winning the whole dang thing!) “I Surrender” was beautiful, but her two upbeat routines are the real winners here.

1. Travis Wall – I am so glad Travis is finally being recognized. Not only was I not surprised he was nominated for this season, but I really believe he deserves to win! “Collide” (Kent and Lauren) was so beautiful. “How it Ends” just kills me inside. And “Fix You” was emotional and beautiful. Three beautiful routines for great dancers and a great choreographer.

Will Win: I think there’s going to be a tie between Travis Wall and Stacey Tookey. These things have happened before!

Another note I have…I was searching through the emmys.com past winners database, and I have to say, the choreography nominations were mostly lame before So You Think You Can Dance came into the picture. They have not only “changed the dance world”, but they have made this Emmy category much more credible and competitive than it’s been in the past. That’s my main reason to keep this show on the air for a while!

NOT DONE! STILL GOT MORE CATEGORIES TO GO!
